Philanthropic priorities
Institute for Democracy and Conflict Resolution
The University aims to create a world class Institute for Democracy and Conflict Resolution that brings together the combined strengths of systematic analysis pursued by the Departments of Sociology, Economics, Government and ISER with the teaching, research and practice of the Human Rights Centre.
The Institute will engage in cutting edge empirical research, industry-leading training and programs for continued professional development, public-private partnerships, and commercial activities (commercial space and products) that multiple streams of income to the University to fulfil its mission as a Centre of Excellence.
Scholarships and bursaries
At Essex we pride ourselves in offering choice, flexibility and support.
We provide the resources, facilities and opportunities to empower our students to succeed in their studies and in whatever professional path they choose.
Increasing the range of scholarships and bursaries available and awarded on academic merit or financial need will ensure equal access to all those able to benefit from our educational provision.
Growing research and extending capacity
Essex has an international reputation for the quality of its research. The creation of a 40-acre Knowledge Gateway at the Colchester Campus will allow the expansion of our ‘third-strand’ activities including technology transfer and research commercialisation.
Arts facilities and programmes
The University has a long history of supporting the arts and prides itself on delivering a diverse and stimulating programme of entertainment and exhibitions.
Future developments include the renovation of the Hexagon building into a new visual arts and gallery space to house our Collection of Latin American Art and an extended arts education outreach programme.
