The Essex Fund - Supporting students
The Essex Fund was set up in 2002 to support projects which focus on students. In the ten years since, the fund has awarded more than £250,000 to:
- hardship funds and bursaries
- bursaries for sport and overseas study
- visual and performing arts projects, including East 15 Acting School
- student societies
- community projects
Formerly known as the Alumni Fund, the Essex Fund provides opportunities for students which they might not otherwise have. From this year, it will focus on two streams:
- Student Experience - Enhancing the student experience at Essex through projects in sports, arts, societies or departments
- The Essex Fund Scholarships - Providing scholarships across all degrees levels
We invite all areas of the university to apply to the Fund each year. A committee considers all the applications – it includes one of our Pro-Vice-Chancellors and some of our donors. They choose the projects which will have the greatest benefit for the greatest number.
