• How can I join the alumni network?
  • The alumni website is an exclusive online community for Essex alumni, and our friends and supporters. It gives you all the latest news from the University and details of forthcoming events, reunions and discussion groups. You can also trace old friends. Just ‘login or register’ – you’ll find it on every page of our site. Fill your details in and create your ID and password. We will verify your account within 24 hours and you’ll have immediate access after that.

• What do I do if I have forgotten my User ID and/or password?

  • Follow the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link on the login page. Once you’ve filled in the information we need to verify your identity, we’ll email the password or user ID to you.

• How can I make a donation to the University?

  • If you can support the University’s work and enhance campus life for today’s students, we’d be very grateful. Go to Support Essex to make a donation online or set-up a regular payment and find out more about how your help can make a difference to Essex today.

• What is an Alumni card and how can I get one?

  • The Alumni card is available to all Essex alumni and gives you access to a range of benefits and exclusive offers. Find out more.

• How can I contact old Essex friends?

  • Register to use our online directories. If you have any problems, e-mail alumni (add @essex.ac.uk) with their name, year and the subject they studied. If we have contact details for them, we’ll forward your information on so they can contact you direct.

• Can I book a tour of the Colchester Campus?

  • Yes. We have a small group of student ambassadors who can give visiting alumni guided tours. They normally take about 20 minutes, and your guide can tailor the tour around you and your interests. They usually take place on weekdays. Please email us to enquire or book.

• How can I get a copy of my degree certificate or transcript?

  • You can get copies of certificates and academic transcripts at www.essex.ac.uk/studentdocs or by calling +44 (0)1206 872986 or emailing documents (add @essex.ac.uk to create a full e-mail address). All students get a degree certificate – and all taught students receive one academic transcript – free when they finish their studies. There is a charge for extra copies.

• Can I get a video recording of my graduation ceremony?

  • Yes. Please contact Visions Unlimited and tell them the date, year and time of your ceremony.

• Can I buy a graduation gown?

  • Yes. The University hires graduation gowns from specialist company Ede & Ravenscroft, which also sells gowns.

• Can I book student accommodation on campus?

  • Yes, during the summer vacation, but supply is very limited. Contact the Conference Office.
