Breaking the rules since 1964

Help us celebrate

We’re planning a series of events for our alumni and friends that build on our founding principles of being international, interdisciplinary and inclusive.

There were just 122 students when Essex first opened its doors. Today, there are more than 10,000 from over 130 countries at three campuses across the county. One thing we think all our alumni have in common, though, is a desire to challenge convention.

Our graduates take intellectual risks, ask difficult questions and shape the world around them. They include two Nobel Prize winners, Mexico’s first astronaut and the Rt Hon John Bercow MP, the sometimes controversial Speaker of the House of Commons.

If you support our 50th anniversary campaign, who knows what the Essex student you help might go on to achieve?

For 2014, we’re creating a new fund to support:

Anyone can support our 50th Anniversary fund – graduates, friends and corporate supporters. Any gift, large or small, makes a difference to students now and in the future.

In the countdown to 2014, there will be events and activities celebrating the University’s expertise in the social sciences, arts, humanities and science and engineering – from lectures and exhibitions to schools programmes.
