Alumni

Every gift helps

For many students, bursaries and loans can mean the difference between dropping out and continuing their studies. But we don’t need to tell you that life as a student isn’t just lectures and the library.

For almost five decades, Essex students have had their whole lives enriched by their experiences here. Your support can help make sure that’s true for generations to come. This year, our alumni and other supporters have had a real impact on campus life.

Employability

Employability of our graduates is extremely important to the University and alumni have been helping current students by providing internships and training opportunities within their organisations. Also, the Essex Employability Award is helping students articulate the skills they’ve learnt to prospective employers – and the Marine Mammal Medics programme is training students to rescue beached marine mammals on the Essex coast. That’s good for their employment prospects and the local environment.

Sports

As well as sports scholarships for students who are balancing effective study and intensive training, we have supported wheelchair fencing – making sport more accessible for students and staff with disabilities.

Arts

Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was performed outdoors by the lake on our Colchester campus in 2012 – and East 15 students regularly take their shows to Edinburgh.

Can you help this year? Could you pledge £5 a month? If 50 alumni did that, a sports club could buy new equipment or we could fund an arts production at E15 or the Lakeside Theatre. To donate to the Essex Fund click here.
