How can I join the alumni network?
Essex is for life and we'd love to stay in touch with you after you graduate! We send monthly newsletters and event invites directly to your inbox as well as our annual magazine, Essex Effect. Make sure we have the most up to date contact details.
You can also join our alumni website. Alumni are former students or staff of Essex. You’ll need to register to access some of our exclusive benefits like JSTOR or our alumni card application form. Completed our registration form, and create your ID and password. We will verify your account within 24 working hours and you’ll have immediate access after that.
What do I do if I have forgotten my User ID and/or password? What if it’s not working?
Follow the link on the login page to automatically receive a reset your password e-mail with a link.
Due to an essential update on our webpages, some accounts have been frozen, so if you have not accessed your account since August 2016 and our reset link hasn’t worked, get in touch and we will manually reset this for you.
How can I make a donation to the University?
If you can support the University’s work and enhance campus life for today’s students, we’d be very grateful. Go to our Philanthropy pages to make a donation online or set-up a regular payment and find out more about how your help can make a difference to Essex today.
What is an Alumni card and how can I get one?
The Alumni card is available to all Essex alumni and gives you access to a range of benefits and exclusive offers. Find out more.
How can I contact my Essex friends?
Email alumni@essex.ac.uk with their name, year and the subject they studied and a brief message we can pass on to them. If we have contact details for them, we’ll get in touch with them on your behalf. Let us know you’re happy to pass on your details too.
Can I book a tour of the Colchester Campus?
Yes. We’d love to welcome you back and show what’s been happening on campus since you we’re last here. Get in touch to find out about returning to campus or even planning a reunion. We’re available for tours, Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm.
How can I get a copy of my degree certificate or transcript?

Can I get a video recording of my graduation ceremony?
Yes. Please contact Visions Unlimited and tell them the date, year and time of your ceremony.

Can I buy a graduation gown?
Yes. The University hires graduation gowns from specialist company Graduate Gowning Company (GGC), a division of H. Tempest Ltd., which also sells gowns.

Can I book student accommodation on campus?
Yes, during the summer holiday (July-September), but supply is very limited. Contact Event Essex for more details and an exclusive alumni discount rate.

Can I buy Essex merchandise online?
Unfortunately, we only sell Essex merchandise on our campus. We bring a small selection of merchandise to some events. Find an event. Otherwise, keep an eye on our social media pages for occasional competitions!
